We’ve worked out our minimum funding needs

The Executive Team has taken a long and hard look at our minimum funding needs for the credible, robust and sustainable operation of the platform.  The total is $95,200, which doesn’t include some important, but not essential items.

We are stage two for two philanthropic grants and we are just about to apply for a Queensland grant – anyone of which would cover this amount.

If none of them are successful, we will need to consider the contingencies of whether we can operate the platform.

Lodged an EOI for the Sector Development Grant

In the last few days, Gary sent a quick Expression Of Interest for the Sector Development Grant, conducted by the Queensland Government.

It isn’t a big grant, but it would be incredibly helpful, including providing for the development of two online business courses (which are inclusive, rather than exclusive of people who live with a disability).

We have no idea how strong our application will be, but we will put our best foot forward.

This week we applied for a SARC grant

This week we applied for a Strong and Resilient Communities (SARC) Activity – Inclusive Communities Grant.  While this was a large application, it was focused specifically on our collaboration with Griffith University.

It covered important matters, such as the development of a suite of online business courses, embedding data collection and analysis into our operation and planning, as well as time for staff and a research assistant.

Thank you for your great and sterling work on this @Naomi Birdthistle, it was a huge effort and our application looks great!

Meeting with pilot testers

In the days and weeks ahead, we plan to catch up with our pilot testers to see they are coming along with the activities we discussed (we found each tester needed to do slightly different things to get the ball rolling for setting up their money-generating endeavour).

We have already been learning valuable insights for the future of the platform and our mentoring of members.  Which is, after all, the reason we are conducting the pilot test.

This is building our confidence to think of launching the platform as a paid service.  We will reflect on whether we need to raise additional funds and conduct additional work (such as developing the online business courses) prior to launching.

Service Coordinators in Queensland

Today we wrote to Care Coordinators operating in Queensland, to tell them about our platform and service, our pilot test and to offer services worth $1,500 to any of their members who are interested in becoming a pilot tester.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, encourage to email Gary Allen at [email protected] or to phone 0419 653 028.

Since making a limited start, we have posted 17 resources including 08 Enabled Discussion Sheets.

If anyone knows someone who would be interested in being a Pilot Tester, send them to the following address, ask them to fill out the form and email me if they run into any problems.

Thank you again for all the support. It is greatly appreciated.

A new video

This one introduces the kind of help we will be offering to Australians who live with a disability and the kind of services we will provide.

We think the animator did a great job, we hope you agree. We are pondering having the same female voiceover professional do the speaking for this video. We would welcome hearing your input.

A set of icons

Further to our previous post, our animator has provided us with a set of twelve icons for the platform.

These will be used for the three animations currently under development, as well as in our upcoming infographics and across our website.

The website changes will be made at the same time we post the animations.
