The use of digital business cards

At the BDO + PMI Queensland Project Management Day of Service – Welcome Cocktail Party we decided to use a digital business card when we were talking to people.  This was a combination of not having previously created physical business cards, environmental considerations and that we are basically technophiles.

We utilised the free app, HiHello.  It works by you entering your digital contact information (including web address and social media information).  It then creates a QR Code that people take a picture of with their smartphone camera and they are prompted to add you to their contact list.  It also asks for their name, phone and email address.  You receive an alert email about them receiving your card and if they have forwarded it to others.

We are only 24 hours in, but it worked very well on the night and the list of people who received your card was incredibly helpful.  We will do a follow-up report in a few days, just in case there are any unforeseen hiccups.  At the moment we can see us using this for our not-for-profit activity, as well as for AHRECS.
