Reflecting on 18 months of hard work

The words "Dignity rights are human right" in a modern and hip font.

Gary has always described himself as a co-founder of this fantastic platform and we thank Col Chandler for the original idea – see https://enabled.vip/about-us/. Indeed, Dr Gary Allen spent most of his adult life striving to be invisible as he supported the work of others.

That being said, he is proud of the work he, Gerard Nelson and the Advisory Board have done setting up Enabled.vip.   The time spent by volunteers on our recent grant applications has been extraordinary.  Contributions by our partners and enthusiasm of our Patron Dinesh Palipana OAM have been humbling.

So we are all delighted to see the developing fruit of our labours, but we claim no credit for the disability business incubator idea.  What we have done together is do the hard work of delivering that tantalising idea.

During that time we have:

  1. Recruited a six-person Advisory Board
  2. Conducted nine Advisory Board meetings
  3. Recruited a patron
  4. Recruited two active volunteers
  5. Conducted a webinar for MS Queensland
  6. Recruited 10 pilot testers
  7. Project managed the site/platform build
  8. Secured a major law firm to work with us on a pro bono basis
  9. Applied for four major grants
  10. Engaged with QSEC and DLI
  11. Started sending pitches to philanthropic bodies
  12. Secured three grants
  13. Created 30 resources
  14. Drafted 20 policies
  15. Formalised an arrangement with Fiverr
  16. Formalised an arrangement with MS Queensland
  17. Formalised an arrangement with THC
